Hello! My name is Briana Hayden. I’m a 17-year-old high school student passionate about showcasing my volleyball journey as I look toward college recruitment. My journey with volleyball began in 8th grade when my coach encouraged me to try out for the team. I hadn’t expected it, but from my first game, I knew I’d found something special.
As I progressed, I joined ST7 Volleyball Club as an outside hitter, but my abilities soon pointed me toward the libero role. By the following season, I won the Emerald Division at AAU Nationals and began exploring new roles, even playing as a setter. This experience helped me realize that I could be a versatile asset on the court, shifting into whatever role my team needed. My commitment to improvement led me to take private lessons as a libero, even when I was focusing on other positions.
During my 15U season, the director of WPVC approached me with an offer to join one of their top teams as a libero. Since then, I’ve dedicated myself to excelling in this role, developing my defensive skills as a libero/DS while continuing to learn the nuances of different positions. Starting as an outside hitter and working my way through setting has given me a deep understanding of the game as a whole. This journey has shaped me into a well-rounded, adaptable player, always striving to bring my best to the court.
